What is the coating for UV printers?
When we use a UV printer to print patterns, some raw materials require pre-treatment, which involves spraying a layer of surface treatment agent (i.e. UV coating) on the surface of the raw materials.
UV coating liquid is refined from special modified resins and special auxiliary materials, or from special polymer materials.
Suitable for materials such as glass, ceramic tiles, metal, PET, PVC, PC, ABS, stone, etc. Its main function is to enhance the adhesion of UV printed patterns.
UV coatings typically have properties such as fast drying speed, non-toxic and environmentally friendly, high hardness, moisture resistance, and deformation resistance.
Usually, each material and ink has its corresponding UV coating, and the UV coating itself is a transparent liquid that does not affect the color expression of the pattern itself.
The common types of coatings include the following:
1. Glass and ceramic tile coating
Suitable for UV printers to print glass, organic glass, tempered glass, glazed tiles, crystals, and other glass materials that require special treatment.
2. PP/PC/PE coating
Due to the high density of PP like materials, ink is not easy to penetrate, so it is necessary to wipe the PP coating.
Usually, this type of coating is dried by hand. After wiping the coating, simply clean it with a dust-free cloth and print it on a UV tablet printer.
3. Metal coating
Suitable for UV printers to print materials such as aluminum, copper plate, tinplate, aluminum alloy, etc., divided into two types: oven baking and hand wiping.
4. Leather coating
Suitable for UV printers to print leather, PVC leather, PU leather, etc. After spraying on the surface of leather material, let it sit and let it dry naturally.
Leather coatings are mainly suitable for water-based or weak solvent inks, and currently only genuine leather is suitable for coating in UV flat printing.
5. ABS coating
Suitable for UV printers to print surfaces made of wood, PVC, ABS, gypsum, thickened kraft paper, acrylic, PS PVC, and other materials. After wiping the coating, it can be printed.
6. Silicone coating
Suitable for printing silicone and rubber materials on UV printers. The surface activity of silicone/rubber is poor and requires special flame treatment, otherwise the adhesion is insufficient. Flame treatment requires a lot of operating experience, and the surface should not be sprayed too thick, otherwise it is not easy to dry.
When the use of open flames is restricted in the factory, corona methods can be used to damage the surface molecular structure of the material. Thus achieving the effect of improving adhesion.
