In the production of paper cups, in order to avoid the generation of toxic solvents, the national standard stipulates that paper cups should not have odors and recycled materials should not be used. The additives used in the raw materials should comply with the provisions of the executive standard. Additives such as fluorescent whitening agents, industrial paraffin, and industrial talc powder that are not within the scope of GB 9685 cannot be used for the production and processing of paper cups.
The factory stated that this means that "even contaminated leftover materials from the workshop should not be used for the production and processing of paper cup base paper. All raw materials and additives should meet the requirements of food packaging grade, and fluorescent brighteners cannot be artificially added." It also encourages the use of energy-saving and environmentally friendly inks such as water-based ink, UV curing ink, and vegetable oil ink to produce paper cups.
In addition, the standard also specifies the stiffness and permeability of paper cups, and the bottom and sides of the paper cups should not leak or seep. If the paper cup is too soft, it will not meet the standard. All packaging materials for paper cups should have sufficient sealing and firmness, and the packaging of paper cups should be dustproof, moisture-proof, and moldy proof.
