Previously, disposable paper cups had only industry standards and lacked national standards. This national standard (GB/T 27590-2011) has put forward higher requirements for paper cup raw materials, additives, packaging, printing, etc., to ensure the safety of consumers.
Of concern is the requirement for the printing position proposed for the first time, which stipulates that the printing pattern on the outside of the paper cup should have a clear outline, uniform color, and no obvious color spots. However, "the cup mouth should not be printed within 15mm from the cup body, and the cup bottom should not be printed within 10mm from the cup body.
There is currently no concept of food grade ink in China and there is no printing ink that can be used to come into contact with food. When drinking water, the lips may come into contact with the cup mouth, and the ink in the printed pattern may be ingested, especially benzene containing ink, which is more detrimental to health. At the same time, when setting the cup, there is a printed pattern at the bottom of the cup, which can easily rub the color onto the inner wall of another cup. Therefore, it is also required that there should be no printing at the bottom.
